Christ The King.

According to the New Testament and the prophecies of the old Testament our savior Christ is the new priestly king and judge. Although there were plenty of priests, kings, and judges of Israel under the original law, they were flawed. These kings fell victim to sin, judges perverted the judgment, and priests started doing witchcraft. Therefore by the time Christ came around there was no more righteousness left in Israel for them to have any more authority from the Law of Moses. That is one of the many reasons why Christ had to come. He came to lay down a new and improved framework for us to go by. However before I talk about what he changed and why, we need to know what type of role Christ is playing. Not only is he our savior but he is a priest, a king, and a judge.

Original Sin Offering

Most people know Christ as a savior only. Although this depiction of him is correct, it is not all that he does. This is just 25% of his effective role in heaven and on earth. As our savior he basically is a replacement of the first sin offering, the lamb or bull.

Recalling the old way of receiving forgiveness of sin, they had to offer lamb without blemish to the altar (Leviticus 1: 10 “And if his offering be of the flocks, namely, of the sheep, or of the goats, for a burnt sacrifice; he shall bring it a male without blemish.”) .And if his offering be of the flocks, namely, of the sheep, or of the goats, for a burnt sacrifice; he shall bring it a male without blemish. Then a priest will prep the lamb and offer it for the individual giving the lamb.

Then The Highest God receives it as a sin offering, and their sin is forgiven. We can also recall the annual sin offering of a bullock, for the sins of the entire nation of Israel (Exodus 30:10). These offerings only abolished their current sins, but it couldn’t demolish the first sin from Adam. Therefore, The Highest God still remembered their sins and continually punished Israel for it. That is why Christ had to come to alleviate that first spiritual sin. (Jeremiah 31:34).

Christ: Our Savior.

Now Christ has accomplished this same effect when he died on the cross (crucifix pole) for our sins. His blood was then spread upon the heaven altar and has the power to abolish all fleshy sin including the first sin from Adam (Hebrews 8: 9-13). He became a continual spiritual sin offering, able to destroy even the first sin. However, we can only get this luxury if we follow his footsteps; believe, repentance, forgiveness, baptism and sin no more (Acts 2:28).

Christ: Priestly King.

Christ is considered a priest in the new testament. The first reason for this election is that his mother, Mary comes from a lineage of priests according to the scripture. Since her cousin Elizabeth was a priestess who gave birth to John the baptist, we can rightfully assume that Mary has the same priestess bloodline. However his priestly role was not granted primarily through his mother.

Christ kingship is also rooted in his genealogy, coming from the lineage of King David through Joseph, Mary’s husband. Christ kingship was prophesied (John 7:42, Romans 1:3).. The Highest God promised king David that the savior will come through his seed. However though Christ is rightfully heir to the throne and has biological traits of an ordained priest, he is a priest king coming after the line of melchizedek. Paul mentions this phenomenon in the book of Hebrews 7:11-13

Hebrews 7:11-13

“11. If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

13 For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar.”

The apostle Paul explains the old priest from the Levites and the former kings based on the old law. He then talks about how Christ priestly kingship is coming from an older and more divine root. The order of Melchizedek. He was mentioned once in the old testament for being a Priestly king of Salem. Abraham (the founding father of the 12 tribes) gave animal offerings to this Melchizedek

Judge

2 Timothy 4:1. “4 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;”

Judges are not just an old testament law theme. They are still in effect today, in spiritual form. Although the New Testament scriptures condemn us for judging others, Christ took the supreme judge seat too. The Son of man will judge the world. As I have written before, Judges are responsible for regulating punishments, and guidance through the law. Judges sometimes executed the punishments they deemed necessary. All these responsibilities were revoked from man-kind and given to Christ. The only thing that we can do that is similar to judging is rebuking others. Rebuking is sternly reprimanding someone for their wrong doing.

Now, Christ, being a supreme judge, a high priest, a king and our savior will elect a new line of judges, priests and officers under him in the kingdom that will be on earth (1 Corinthians 4:5). Until then Christ is our invisible form of Biblical Law enforcer. He alone maintains the Biblical government until we are ready and worthy enough to handle that responsibility as before (1 Corinthians 6:21)

Conclusion

Christ coming is a necessary event that gives us a new form of Biblical law enforcement. Christ’s newer law is still originating from the old law, he just made it harder for us to hate each other and gave us faith to believe in the evidence of things unseen. Christ is our new savior (sin offering), king, high priest and judge coming out of the order of Melchizedeck.

There are a lot of benefits for having all the authoritative roles put into one person. He has become all forms of righteousness, the embodiment of holly; a figure of supreme awesomeness that triumphed over death.
